About THE CLUB
History
The Moon Township Garden Club was founded in 1921 under the National Farm and Garden Association, with founding members hosting field trips and educational meetings, and researching topics on gardening and nature.
By offering programs on Victory Gardens during the Second World War and organizing early beautification projects, the club further established itself by its service to the surrounding community. In 1963, members voted to change the organization’s name to the Moon Township Garden Club and began several decades of expansion into conservation efforts and community engagement.
Today, our deep roots that began over a century ago have blossomed further, with volunteers from the Moon Township Garden Club involved in community outreach and engagement on gardening and environmental topics, providing regular education events and field trips for members, caring for a historic landscape in Robin Hill Park, and supporting our community through philanthropy.
Logo
Our original garden club seal, designed in 1963, is still in use today. The ribbon “M” in the center represents Moon, while gardening tools form the initial “T” for Township. The seal thoughtfully incorporates a moonflower bloom and Pennsylvania laurel leaves and blossoms, referencing the official flower of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Awards and Honors
The Moon Township Garden Club and its individual members have frequently
received honors for their work in education, conservation and
